Why It’s Good To Have A Beautiful Mind

Wouldn’t it be amazing and calming too, to fill our minds with beautiful thoughts, images, visions, and loveliness? So often instead, however, it’s consumed by worry, fear, doubt, negativity and dread.

Let’s think of happiness and joy, lightness and fun, positive energy and ease as a greater focus. It’s worth considering.

Our thoughts control and dictate our emotions which in turn determine our resultant behavior. In its simplest form, when we are happy or choose positive thoughts, we feel better and our attitude and how we approach the world is brighter. Always. I am sure that you can think of many times or situations where this has been true for you.

The same of course occurs in reverse whereby when our thoughts are negative or bad, unhappy and unhelpful even, our feelings are low which changes our attitude and behavior accordingly.

Some of us are more positive in thought quite naturally through life’s experience, personality or habits. For others, however, more pessimistic or negative thoughts dictate.

What if we could change our usual thought process? What if we believed that was actually possible as a first step?

I am not saying, however, that bad or sad things aren’t part of life and that we shouldn’t be affected by them, more so to be aware of how we view more everyday situations and events and how helpful it would be to change our view.

So, I ask you; ‘What beautiful things can you think of?’ List them, think them, breathe them.

For me, butterflies and dancers, the outdoors on a crisp winter day, smiles, special people, my home, upcycled vintage furniture, sunshine, romance, books, a log fire, creativity, success and achievements, strolls on beaches.

So, I am suggesting that you have a beautiful image in mind. Capture some words to describe that vision. And when negative thoughts take over or preoccupy your mind, when overthinking isn’t helpful or kind but indeed rather suffocating, try substituting your beautiful image instead.

What different does that make to your wellbeing and sense of calm? It doesn’t necessary change the situation but it certainly changes the perspective we have of it.

It’s a work in progress and a potential new way of thinking or being, but so worth it. As are you. Even the thought of a beautiful mind is likely to bring hope. And awareness and hope are two key aspects and foundations for change.

I wish you a beautiful day.
