Identifying Negative Energy And How To Manage It

By Bridget Webber
Updated November 14, 2015

You may not realize it, but people naturally give off positive and negative energy, which in turn, affects those around them. When you understand how to spot negative energy and prevent it from dampening your mood, you’ll be more likely to have a brighter outlook no matter what sorts of situations you’re facing. Learning about negative energy teaches you how to stop it from adversely affecting your way of life.

Signs Of Negative And Positive Energy

Some experts believe that the type of energy a person gives off is reflective of the amount of love with which they’ve lead their lives. The quality of the energy also has a lot to do with whether a person may be harboring destructive feelings, such as doubt, anger, resentment or despair. A person who is filled with negative energy may make you feel tired, as if your own enthusiasm for life is waning.

In some cases, your intuition might sound alarm bells and cause you to have an inner feeling that you’re unsafe or especially on guard when you’re in the presence that person. You may also feel as if you’re being demeaned or attacked, even if the person doesn’t directly say anything to you that’s offensive. It’s also important to realize that if you’re always feeling run down and as if you lack vigor for life, it’s possible that the harmful energy is within you, rather than coming from someone within your vicinity.

In contrast, someone who exudes positive energy should make you feel peaceful, optimistic and at ease. Of course, someone who tends to be positive can’t display those characteristics all the time, but usually you’ll be able to pick up on that good energy without consciously trying.

Keeping The Negative Energy At Bay

The first step in managing negative energy is to find its source. If you believe the negative energy is inside you, that means not only accepting it’s there, but determining the reason for it. Did something happen in your past that you still regret? Are you trying to conceal frustration at something your boss did last week rather than discussing the issue with her directly? Those are a couple of examples of possible reasons why negative energy is inside you.

After identifying the negative energy, you must work hard to focus on the solution for how to replace that negative energy with something more positive. Staying focused on solving the issue rather than dwelling on the negative energy that’s there helps you to have a clearer and more uplifting perspective.

Spend Time With Positive People

The people we surround ourselves with are powerful influencers. Being around people who are usually upbeat means you not only get many of the benefits mentioned above in regard to positive energy, but you might also get some helpful tips about how to rid yourself of negative energy and replace it with something better. After all, there’s a good chance even the most seemingly positive people find themselves experiencing some negative energy from time to time. 00340-Identifying-Negative-Energy-And-How-To-Manage-It-pin

Decide To Create Your Own Outcomes

It’s far too easy to become consumed by negative energy if you allow yourself to think too much about what might happen, rather than doing anything in your power to make the outcome as favorable as possible. Always strive to look for opportunities, even when you’re coping with a bad time in your life. With hard work and determination, you might be very surprised at how much those factors can help things turn out your way.

Negative energy is impossible to escape completely, but hopefully these tips will make you feel better equipped to handle it well and avoid it, instead of letting it take over your life.
