Fabulous Things We Tend To Forget About Ourselves

With the pressures of the world weighing down on your shoulders, it’s pretty easy to get down on yourself. Little missteps, from missing that deadline to failing to prepare the culinary tour-de-force you planned for Sunday supper, can leave you feeling like your skills are lacking and that, just maybe, you’ve overestimated your overall strength.

Although it’s common to question and doubt, doing so is in no way helpful. Instead of letting this negativity poison your outlook on life, focus on the positive. There are lots of things about which you can be proud. Remind yourself of these brag-worthy traits and skills when you need that little boost.

You Possess The Power To Learn

When compared to the other animals that populate the planet, you are way ahead of the game. You have the power to learn an immense body of knowledge. If there is something about which you are curious, you have access to resources that you can utilize to locate an answer.

With some mental muscle, you can become an expert in anything. Want to start a career in underwater basket weaving? If you’re dedicated enough, you can do just that thanks to your pretty amazing brain!

You Possess The Power To Create

It’s cool enough that you can acquire knowledge that is already part of the larger collective of human understanding. It’s even more amazing that you can actually add to this collective yourself. From penning some prose to producing a powerful painting, you possess the amazing ability to produce new and uniquely meaningful products.

With nothing more than your mind, you can bring something into existence. You can create a piece that unites the world in seeing something from a whole new perspective. If you’re really feeling down, try exercising this awesome ability. It may help you fully realize your profound power.

You Possess The Power To Heal

You’re not a superhero or anything, but the power to heal is profound enough to warrant the wearing of a cape. Not only can your body mend the cuts and scrapes that mar your exterior, but your mind can recover from almost unimaginable strain.

You mightn’t be able to bounce back as quickly as you would like from a traumatic event, but the fact that you can bounce back at all is something of which you can be immensely proud.

You Possess The Power To Pick Your Surroundings

Most animals are born into a landscape and never really venture away. They don’t need to go far beyond the watering hole – and they don’t understand enough about the world to do so without worry.

Humans, on the other hand, can circumnavigate the globe, picking their ideal living locations. If you don’t like the opportunities that you have where you currently reside, you have the power to pick up and move somewhere that affords more opportunities – somewhere better suited to your specific skills and talents.

If you find yourself in the company of individuals who aren’t helping you be the best you can be, you should get away. What’s the point in possessing this power anyway if you don’t ever use it?

You Possess The Power To Love

In the animal kingdom, relationships are purpose-driven and perfunctory. Reproduction motivates all interactions and, in most cases, pairs split shortly after. Humans, however, form bonds unlike almost any other.

From friends to families to bedfellows, humans can love to an indescribable depth. The love that humans can feel can motivate and inspire, tear down and rebuild. Although love can hurt when it sours, you should never regret these relationships as they allow you to grow and mature and become your best possible self.

You Possess The Power To Dream

You don’t have to have personally experienced something to be able to imagine it. Humans are amazing in that we can dream and aspire. Even though you may never have taken the stage in a Pin ItRussian ballet, you can travel there in your mind. You can feel the heat of the stage lights beating down on you. You can hear the roar of the audience.

This power to dream is more useful than it may seem on the surface. Most of the best things in life are hard to attain. Were it not for your ability to dream yourself into these experiences, you would likely find it difficult to motivate yourself to work as hard as you will need to achieve greatness.

By imagining yourself into these ideal scenarios, however, you can see just how it would feel, making it easier to continue endeavoring towards greatness.
