
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by obsessive thoughts and compulsive actions. This might be thoughts about harming someone, germs or the tidiness of a space.
Behaviors might include rituals, counting and excessive hand washing. The disorder varies from person to person, but it doesn’t discriminate. While genetics may play a small role in the development of OCD, environment can be just as much to blame. Even the rich and famous aren’t immune from the illness. In fact, many celebrities have OCD and some of them might surprise you.
1. David Beckham
His life might seem perfect to the outsider, but Beckham likes things to be arranged in a certain way and becomes unduly upset when they aren’t. This includes food in the refrigerator and furniture. He spends a lot of time rearranging things to his liking.
2. Justin Timberlake
Justin’s OCD comes along with anxiety and he likes his things lined up at a precise angle and can’t function without certain foods always being on hand in his refrigerator.
3. Jessica Alba
Alba is a very accomplished actress, but she worries about her things being plugged in when she isn’t using them. In fact, she makes sure to unplug everything when it’s not in use. She also obsessively checks her locks to be sure they are engaged.
4. Billy Bob Thornton
Billy Bob assigns numbers to people and thinks of them as that figure instead of by their name. He also is reported to have to remove and replace his mail three times before he can take it in the house.
5. Donald Trump
The Trump is leery of germs, which is why he refuses to shake hands with people for fear that he’ll get contaminated with something gross. He also refuses to push certain elevator buttons as he’s sure they are crawling with germs.
6. Cameron Diaz
Diaz has admitted to being so concerned about germs on doorknobs that she’s actually removed some of the finish from cleaning them so vigorously and so often.
7. Howard Stern
Sources say that Stern can’t turn his radio on until he’s tapped the dials a certain number of times. He won’t turn the radio on if he hasn’t done the tapping, one of the symptoms of compulsive behaviors.
8. Leonardo DiCaprio
Leo’s compulsive behaviors include having to step on gum stains on the concrete while also having to avoid stepping on any crack he encounters, both indoors and outdoors as he walks around.
9. Megan Fox
Fox doesn’t try to hide her OCD and admits to being so fearful of germs that she refuses to use a public bathroom and avoids restaurant silverware, bringing her own or skipping a meal out and eating at home instead.
10. Katy Perry
Katy’s form of obsessive compulsive disorder involves liking things intact and clean. Sources say she gets very agitated if her make-up breaks or if she finds hairs on her clothing.
11. Harrison Ford
Ford is fearful of snakes and reptiles and engages in obsessive and compulsive thoughts and behaviors in his effort to never encounter a species. This can often interfere with normal daily life.
12. Charlie Sheen
Whether Sheen’s OCD was triggered by his extensive drug use is unknown, but he admits to having the condition now.
13. Howie Mandel
His intense obsession with avoiding germs means that Howie won’t shake hands with people and won’t touch communal handrails. He even washes his money so it isn’t dirty and covered with germs.
14. Fred Durst
Durst has only said he’s been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder, but doesn’t talk about his condition or how it affects his life.
15. Charlize Theron
Theron has openly admitted that she is obsessed with neatness and tidiness. She spends a lot of her time ensuring that her surroundings are just the way she likes them.
16. Jennifer Love Hewitt
Hewitt is obsessed with open doors and cabinets and cannot sleep until they are all checked and closed.
17. Martin Scorsese
This famous director and writer has addressed his OCD diagnosis in a couple of his films.
18. Marc Summers
Despite his appearance on Nickelodeon and its famous slime television show, he hates germs and engages in many behaviors to avoid them.
19. Fiona Apple
Apple’s compulsive avoidance of driving leaves her housebound much of the time. She is also said to spend time neatening and organizing her trash cans.
20. Julianne Moore
Moore takes dark character roles in films because she claims her OCD drives her to do it. She also has times when she leaves the house so she can hit more green lights than red ones.
