By Dr. Michael Richardson

It’s time to reach your weight loss goal! Shedding those extra pounds can be difficult, especially when there are temptations around every corner. From magazine ads to TV commercials, we are inundated with thoughts of food all day long. These tips are designed help you fight the cravings and get you to your goal weight… finally!

Have A Plan

People who know what they are going to eat lose more weight. This happens because they set themselves up for success by having a plan of action. By having a clear idea of what you are going to eat through the week, you avoid overeating. Instead of skipping meals and mindlessly snacking on whatever is available, prepare healthy and nutritious meals that are designed to keep you feeling full. And if you do get the urge to snack, plan ahead and have low calorie snacks to keep you satisfied.

Pack In The Proteins

One sure-fire way to lose more fat is to add protein to your diet. Protein does many great things for the body, such as helping to build and repair muscle. Most importantly, it helps to boost your metabolism and fight fat. This is because the carbohydrates found in proteins are released into the body slowly, so that you can avoid the sugar spike that comes with processed, sugary foods. Instead of reaching for those high-carb foods, go for stuff that has more protein. Meats, fish, skim cheese, yogurt, beans, nuts and seeds are all protein-rich foods that can help you lose weight fast.

Skip The Sugar

Sugar is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to gaining weight. This sweet substance is put into many of the foods we eat. Processed foods, like TV dinners, along with fruit juices are laden with sugar, even though they may advertise that they are good for you. Don’t be fooled! Many fruit juices have nearly as much sugar as a can of soda! The best way to avoid this pitfall is to read the nutrition labels on the products you buy. Check out the amount of sugar and stay away from any item that has more than 15 grams of sugar per serving.

Get Out Of That Chair

Most of us have sedentary jobs that include sitting in a chair for hours on end. This is a diet killer that will lead you down the road to obesity in a hurry. There is an easy way to incorporate exercise into your routine and help you lose weight. Getting up and standing for five minutes at a time, two or three times an hour will help you to build muscle and burn calories right at your desk. It is also important to get up and walk around a couple times a day to get the heart pumping and the blood flowing. So grab your smart phone and set up an alarm that will remind you to get out of that chair and get moving.

Pin It Drink Plenty Of Water

Water is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle. With zero calories, carbohydrates and sugar, water is an ally that can be used to help speed up weight loss. Not only will it help you stay hydrated, and dehydration makes you feel hungry, but water can curb your appetite as well. By swapping a high calorie beverage with a glass of water, you will be able to reduce the amount of calories in your diet and boost your metabolism. So, make sure you drink plenty of water every day.
